Vector and Raster Based Animations

My favorite vector animation would have to be “animator vs. animation.” The link to the animation is in the video bar on the right side of this blog. This animation is amazing; I cannot imagine how many hours that took this guy to finish it. Alan Becker is his name. Sometimes I find myself spending 100’s of hours of my life in flash. I really enjoy using the flash software. I am sure the creator of “animator vs. animation” enjoys it as well. The quality of the animation is very seamlessly executed. I am jealous. I cannot stop watching this animation, it is so cool. I enjoy seeing the stick figure going at it with the animator and his icons. It's funny to see the fox in the fire fox mozilla logo come to life and blow fire at the stick figure. I like the part where the aim icon battles the stick figure. Then the animator IM’s his friend asking him how to save the aim icon. It is great how he integrated the windows interface into the animation. It looks like he made a screen capture of the windows desktop which he probably did. He must have had to recreate vector graphics of the icons to animate them like he did. It was hilarious how the stick figure became a slave to the antivirus software at the end. Now he blows fire at unwanted pop-up ads.

My favorite raster animation would have to be “the magician”. You can view it with at this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGRIsNucxRY. I could not get it to show up on my video bar. Some weird stuff kept showing up. The thing with blogger is it won’t let you link a specific video in the bar, instead you have to use keywords that it will search and recognize the video from you tube or maybe I have not figured it out yet. Anyways, back to the raster animation. This is actually a stop motion clay animation with a little after affects in some of it. I like this story because it is a funny and quirky story. The magician has been left a letter and along with it is a box of magic tricks. Actually they magically appeared in front of him when he was playing piano. The magician then opens the box and starts exploring its magical content. First he takes out a box with an orange and waves his wand and the orange is life size. He also made a cloud that precipitated snow. I really enjoy the part where he pulls out a loop and sticks his head through it. The loop is actually a loop hole in the magician’s realm. That’s where the rabbits mysteriously disappear to and horses. I really enjoyed this animation, it made me laugh. Hope you enjoy it.
